- Your child is behaving in ways you don't understand

- You've become an expert in their needs, but somewhere along the way, you've lost yourself
- You feel alone in this — most people around you don't quite understand
Available in-person Oran Park & via Telehealth · Private pay & NDIS Capacity Building
Parenting a child with additional needs or going through a challenging time is its own kind of hard.
You are doing so much. The appointments, the research, the advocacy, the assessments — and on top of that, you're still trying to show up as a parent, a partner, a person.
And yet somehow, the focus is always on your child. Which makes complete sense. But it also means that somewhere along the way, how you're doing has become the last thing anyone asks about.
You might be feeling:
- Constantly exhausted — not just physically, but emotionally depleted
- A grief you can't fully name or explain to those around you
- Guilt that comes in waves — "Am I doing enough? Am I enough?"
- Isolated — because other parents don't quite understand what your days are like
- Like the system is working against you, even when you're doing everything right
You cannot keep pouring from an empty cup — and you deserve support too. It's actually in your child's best interest.
This isn't generic parenting advice. It's real, personalised support — for you.
These sessions are dedicated, private 1:1 time that belongs entirely to you as the parent or carer. Not problem-solving, not a checklist — a space to breathe, to understand, and to feel genuinely supported.
Psychoeducation — understanding your child
We explore what's actually happening in your child's nervous system, brain, and behaviour — so you can respond with more confidence, less confusion, and less self-blame.
Emotional support — for your feelings
Space to process the grief, the guilt, the overwhelm, and the love — all at once. No performing. No having to hold it together. Just honest, held conversation.
Practical strategies — tailored to your family
What to try, how to approach difficult moments, and how to build a home environment that works for your child and for you — without burning yourself out in the process.
Building your capacity — sustainably
We work on what helps you stay regulated, grounded, and resourced — so you can keep showing up for your child without losing yourself entirely.
This is a space that holds both the hard and the beautiful parts of your experience.
Parenting a child with additional needs asks so much of you — emotionally, cognitively, physically. And often, the system asks even more. These sessions are not about fixing your parenting. They are about giving you somewhere to land.
Someone who understands neurodivergence, who won't give you generic advice, and who recognises that you are navigating something genuinely complex — while still showing up, every single day.
You don't need to have a crisis to deserve support. Ongoing hard is enough.
This is for you if even 1 of the following apply…

If your child has an NDIS plan, these sessions may already be funded.
You don't have to pay out of pocket. Parent support sessions like these can often be covered under the Capacity Building section of your child's NDIS plan — and you may not even realise it's available to you.
Supporting you to better support them — that's exactly what Capacity Building is for.
The NDIS recognises that when a parent or carer is better informed, better supported, and better resourced, the child with disability benefits too. That's why some plans have Capacity Building funding that may be used to support you — through psychoeducation, skills development, and carer support sessions.
These sessions can be claimed under Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living, depending on your child's plan. I can help you work out if your child's plan is eligible — just ask.
- Capacity Building funding sits in your child's plan — not yours
- Eligible plans can use these sessions to build your capacity as their primary carer
- Not all plans include this — but many do, and it's worth checking
- I can review your child's plan with you and confirm whether it applies
These are not psychology sessions for your child — NO Psychology support category or Psychology funding is needed in their NDIS plan. These are Capacity Building sessions delivered by a qualified therapeutic professional, focused entirely on building your knowledge, skills, and capacity as their carer. It is a completely separate and distinct support type.

Hi, I'm Christina.
I'm a Registered Psychotherapist, former School Counsellor and now the Director of Sage Mind — a small, family-run private practice based in Sydney's Oran Park. I've been in the Education & Mental Health industries for the past 15 years.
My work with parents is grounded in genuine empathy, clinical knowledge, and a deep respect for how hard you are already trying.
I won't offer you scripts or generic frameworks. I'll sit with you in the reality of your experience, help you make sense of it, and walk alongside you as you find your way through it.
You deserve someone in your corner who actually gets it.
It's simple to begin.

All rates include 15 minutes of case review & preparation before your session, your full session time, and 15 minutes of clinical notes afterwards — so your rate covers the complete clinical time surrounding your session, not just the minutes in the room.
This is a private practice — there are no Medicare rebates available. This allows us to work without session caps, rigid frameworks, or gaps in continuity of care. You come as often as you need, for as long as it's helpful.
You've been holding so much for so long.
If something in this page resonated with you — even just quietly — that matters. It might be a sign that some part of you knows you need more support than you're currently getting.
You don't have to have the words for it just yet. Let's get the appointment first.
